84983 - Radioterapy Techniques (RN)

Academic Year 2024/2025

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Imaging and Radiotherapy techniques (cod. 9079)

Learning outcomes

The student acquires the ability to apply radiotherapy techniques, including anatomical-density data acquisition, positioning, immobilization, treatment simulation, field shaping, data entry protocols, and the completion of the digital radiotherapy record. Additionally, the student learns advanced techniques for treatment execution, methods for personalizing treatment fields, and techniques for verifying treatments. The role of the Radiologic Technologist (TSRM) in the field of radiotherapy and the psychological aspects of radiotherapy, including work-related challenges in dealing with oncology patients, are also covered.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons with sharing of multimedia objects.

Assessment methods

At the end of the course the student must be able to demonstrate the knowledge of the main radiotherapy techniques and their functioning, the immobilization and repositioning systems, the main applications for the body district, as well as the role of images and positioning verification systems. He will also have to master the knowledge of special radiotherapy techniques.

The final exam will consist in answering oral questions concerning radiotherapy techniques.
