Assessment methods
The Portuguese Language Practice Examination consists of a practical assessment of linguistic competence, to be carried out in both written and oral form with the mother-tongue reader and covering the grammatical topics covered during the annual course. In particular, the written test - which is preparatory to the oral test, which can only be taken if the student obtains a minimum mark of 18/30 - will consist of a series of grammar exercises, as well as comprehension and text production exercises, aimed at assessing the student's mastery of the basic tools of the current Portuguese language. Those who have passed the written test inherent to the language practice course will then be admitted to the oral test, which will consist of a dialogue with the native speaker in order to demonstrate their level of interaction and communicative ability, in Portuguese, on matters relating to everyday life situations.
In each of the two language practice tests, written and oral, the learner will be awarded another partial mark, again in thirtieths (30/30), which will be added to the mark awarded by the teacher responsible for the discipline, so that the final mark for Portuguese and Brazilian Language and Linguistics 1 will be the mathematical average of the three partials in linguistics, written and oral literature. Finally, as regards the sequence of these three stages of the final examination, the combinations are numerous as long as the one rule of propaedeuticity between the written and oral lectorate examination is respected. This means, therefore, that the linguistics examination with the teacher in charge of the discipline can be taken either before or after the literature examinations, but the overall mark can only be recorded when the last of these three examinations is passed.
