Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student: - knows the basic features of the Italian theatre system’s structure; - acquires knowledge in the fields of artistic and cultural planning and of economic and organisational management of a theatre or a festival; - he knows how to deepen real-life case histories by analysing a theatre season or a festival in all their components (i.e. cultural, organisational, economic and communication-linked); - he learns the basics about the main organisational tools in the management of a performing art project; - he knows how to relate a theatre project to the context in which it is proposed.
Course contents
Workshop “Season Planning and the Management of a Theatre or a Festival”
curated by Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione / Teatro Nazionale
With the involvement of the students, either individually or in groups, the workshop-type lessons aim at developing the main knowledge and skills needed for the organisation of a live performance activity.
Starting from a basic mapping of the Italian theatre system, students will be led towards the identification of the main features of each activity and the testing of the main organisational needs.

Teaching methods
Frontal lessons, with analysis and deepening of the covered subjects, guided analysis of institutions and realities of the theatre industry.
The course stakes the teacher’s and the students’ theoretical, analytical and critical-operational contribution and will develop according to a seminar approach - with the direct intervention of the students in the elaboration of individual or group organizational models. Meetings with professionals from Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione will be crucial for the development of the course.
Assessment methods
The learning will be verified during the lessons, in dialogical and collective form.
