Learning outcomes
The student is already familiar with and able to use the basic conference techniques (both consecutive and simultaneous) from Russian into Italian in different professional settings.
Course contents
This course aims at enhancing the interpreting skills and techniques acquired in the previous year.
During the course the students will strengthen their abilities in both consecutive (with a special focus on the note-taking technique) and simultaneous interpreting by using speeches delivered during real events.
Exercises will be based on original speeches dealing with general issues, as well as with specialty subjects. In this regard, students will learn how to prepare for conferences on technical topics.

Teaching methods
Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting exercises based on original speeches in audio or video formats (radio and TV interviews, debates, conferences).
Before dealing with a given subject matter, its terminological aspects will be studied by preparing specific glossaries.
Assessment methods
The aim of the final exam is to assess whether the student has acquired the necessary interpreting skills from Russian into Italian, both in consecutive and simultaneous mode.
The exam will consist of:
- 5-8 minutes consecutive interpreting from Russian into Italian;
- 10-13 minutes simultaneous interpreting from Russian into Italian.
The exam will concern Russian-speaking areas-related topics. The topic is communicated via Moodle one week in advance.
Student must take all the relevant interpreting tests on the same day. If at least 50% of the tests - 2 tests for A Language, 1 test for B Language - is assessed positively, the tests that have been passed are kept as good.
The final grade will be the average of marks obtained by the student during the exam.
Teaching tools
Audio/videotaped speeches, conference speeches and material (Power Point presentations, various documents, etc.).
