Readings/Bibliography

  1. N. Fusco, P. Marcellini e C. Sbordone, Elementi di Analisi Matematica Due, Liguori Editore.
  2. G. C. Barozzi, Matematica per l'Ingegneria dell'Informazione, Ed. Zanichelli (Bologna).

Teaching methods

Frontal lectures at the blackboard, with examples, counterexamples and exercises.

Assessment methods

The exam consists of a written test and an oral exam.

Written test:

Exercises relating to the course topics similar to those provided during the course itself, to be solved within 3 hours.
The passing score is equivalent to half of the total points, i.e. 18/36.
It is NOT permitted to bring books or notes to the exam, but it is permitted to use rulers and calculators, EXCEPT graphical ones (i.e. those that allow you to view graphs of functions).
Not having passed one written test does not affect participation in subsequent tests.

Oral exam:

Oral exam to verify the understanding of the fundamental concepts and the knowledge of the definitions and statements of the main results.

Anyone who does not obtain a sufficient grade in the written test cannot take the oral exam.
You can take the oral exam ONLY within the same session as the written exam, even in a different session from the one in which you passed the written exam.
An insufficient mark in an oral exam does not jeopardize participation in subsequent oral exams, provided they are within the same session. Once the session is over, you must pass a new written test to be admitted to the oral exam of the next session.

Final vote:

The final grade takes into account both the written and oral exams.

Number of exams:

4 exam sessions in the summer session (3 between June and July, 1 in September) and 2 exam sessions in the winter session (between January and February).

Registration for the exams:

It is necessary to register for both the written exam and the oral exam through the Alma Esami website (https://almaesami.unibo.it/).
Anyone who does not register cannot take the written or oral exam.

Attention: registration normally closes several days before the test! Sign up early!
