Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students master the most important philological tools for working with Greek texts, with special focus on the history of their transmission and reception.
Course contents
- Tradition of literary texts from classical antiquity (4 hours).
- Textual criticism and history of Greek philology (6 hours).
- Reading and text-critical analysis of ancient Greek drama fragments (14 hours). Reading and text-critical analysis of Convivium (some passages) by Lucian of Samosata (6 hours, lessons given by Prof Dr Heinz-Günther Nesselrath on 7, 8, 10 April 2025).
Beginning of the course: 31 March 2025.
Timetable and venue: Monday (3.00 pm-5.00 pm), Tuesday (3.00 pm-5.00 pm) and Thursday (3.00 pm-5.00 pm), Dipartimento di Filologia Classica e Italianistica, Aula Andrea Battistini and Aula Traina.
Students who do not have the opportunity to attend the course are asked to arrange additional examination-related reading with the professor.

Teaching methods
Lectures will be interactive. Students will be encouraged to exchange their point of view with their professor and colleagues.
Assessment methods
Assessment for this course consists of an oral examination, during which are assessed the knowledge and the critical elaboration of the themes considered during the course and of the bibliography.
