Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will know the conformation and structure of various organs and systems with regard to their macroscopic and microscopic features. The student will also know correlations between the regions of the human body. The knowledge gained is the basis for the understanding of human body and clinical application.
Course contents
Anatomical nomenclature, position, planes and axis.
CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM: heart and pericardium. Circulatory loops. Basic structure of the blood vessels. Coronary arteries, aorta and pulmonary arteries.
Lymphatic system, lymph vessels, lymph nodes
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM: morphology of the upper airways (nose, nasal cavity, pharynx). Morphology of the lower airways (larynx, trachea and the stem bronchi). Lungs, pulmonary segments, the intrapulmonary conducting airways. Diaphragm and the lung–chest system
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: Mouth and oral structures, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine. Liver, gallbladder and biliary tract. Hepatic portal system. Pancreas acinar cells and islet cells.
RENAL SYSTEM: kidneys, general description and location. Renal vessels. Internal structure and organization of the kidneys. Ureters and urinary bladder.

Teaching methods
The course consists of 6 CFU, divided into a module of 3 CFU in Anatomy of the circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine and genital systems and a second module of 3 CFU in anatomy of the skeletal and muscular system. In both modules there are 6 hours focused on the practical laboratory of microscopic anatomy, in which microscopic preparations relating to the main systems covered in class will be observed, and 6 hours of laboratory on the recognition of human skeletal findings. During the lessons, slides will be shown illustrating the concepts that the student must learn to prepare for the exam.
Assessment methods
The final exam of Human Anatomy will be carried out for both modules on the same day and only in oral form. The exam includes recognition of a microscopic anatomy slide, recognition and description of an element of the human skeleton and two specific questions on topics relating to the main subjects covered in the course. Both modules require an evaluation out of thirty. The final grade will be calculated via the arithmetic average of the grades reported in the two individual modules. The grade obtained in the single module is valid until the next exam session.
To take the exam, registration via Almaesami is required, in mandatory compliance with the established deadlines. Those who are unable to register by the scheduled date are required to promptly communicate the problem to the student office (and in any case before the official closing of the registration lists). The teacher will have the right to admit them to take the test. The recording of the grade achieved takes place on the date set as indicated in Almaesami. Recording can take place in the student's absence.
