Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will be able to recognize and solve simple cases of conservative dentistry. In particular, the student will be able to: 1. recognize and appropriately use the tools in conservative dentistry; 2. recognize and properly use the materials for in conservative dentistry; 3. classify, diagnose and treat lesions of dental hard tissues with different restorative materials; 4. handle the basic knowledge of the morphology and the dental structure normal and altered by pathological processes; 5. understand the etiology and the pathophysiological mechanisms of dental caries, in order to establish a diagnosis and establish proper procedures for prevention and therapy; 6. diagnose all pathologies that require a conservative treatment; 7. know the classical principles of caries therapy: cavities for amalgam and composite materials, the use of the rubber dam; 8. recognize the indications to the treatment of conservative; plan and organize work in in conservative dentistry; 9. perform preparations and fillings conservative on the phantom using resin elements and natural elements.
Course contents
The program includes detailed analysis of: 1. tools used for conservative dentistry both direct and indirect; 2. materials for conservative dentistry; 3. Classification, diagnosis and treatment of pathologies of hard dental tissues with different restorative materials; 4. diagnosis of all pathologies that require a conservative treatment; 5. knowledge of the principles of treatment of complex dental caries; 6. preparation of the cavities of class III and IV; 7. formulating an overall treatment plan in conservative dentistry; 8. plan and organize work of indirect conservative; 9. perform preparations for indirect restorations on resin elements and natural elements.
