Course contents
The course addresses the transformations that Italian cities underwent from the classical age to the 14th century. These are numerous centuries that have left important traces of which it is important to grasp the cultural and social value. Although there are some characteristics that unite the history of Italian cities, no city has experienced the same events as the others: this course therefore intends to highlight the common and characteristic elements of some cities. Particular attention will be paid to the history of the city of Bologna.
Readings/Bibliography
F. Bocchi, Per antiche strade. Caratteri e aspetti delle città medievali, Roma 2013
