Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students are familiar with the linguistic and pragmatic aspects of the German language; they are able to understand, analyze and produce oral discourse and written texts on a wide range of topics in the German language, used in different spheres of modern society. They are able to handle complex communicative situations by expressing themselves spontaneously and demonstrating good pragmatic skills of communication in the German language. The skills achieved at the end of the second year are approximately at the B2+ level of the CEFR.
Course contents
Comprehension and production of oral texts:
Interviews, presentations, discussions on specific topics of individual and current society interest, with research on terminology and inherent content.
Comprehension and production of written texts of various types, and more specifically dialogues, comments and opinions or summaries.
Common and idiomatic expressions for writing/responding to emails, expressing opinions, introducing oneself or introducing a specific person/topic.

Teaching methods
The teaching process is dynamic/interactive and requires preparation and active participation as well as the writing of short written papers on the topics covered.
Classes are held in person; 70% attendance is compulsory.
Assessment methods
The exam includes a written part in the form of a short personal opinion with presentation, argument, counter-argument and conclusion, followed by an oral part in the form of a short interview, again taking up a topic previously covered in class.
