B1645 - Reading and Translation of Greek Literary Text (1) (LM)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has consolidated his ability to recognize and understand the syntactic constructs of the Greek language by translating at sight under the direction of the professor.

Course contents

Under the direction of the professor, the attending students will read and translate significant literary passages, focusing on the peculiar stylistic and linguistic characteristics and framing them from a historical-literary point of view also from a didactic perspective. The passages being read and analyzed – taken from works of the 5th and 4th centuries. to. C. – will be agreed upon by the teacher with the attending students.

Students who don't attend the lessons are invited to contact the professor to define personalized exam contents.

Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities. Timetable and venue: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 11.00 am-1.00 pm.

Readings/Bibliography

The texts in Greek to be analysed will be distributed as photocopies during the lessons. Bibliographical references for in-depth study of these texts will be given during the course.

Teaching methods

Lectures will be interactive and based on continuous exchanges between lecturer and students.

The materials provided during the lectures will be made accessible and downloadable from Virtuale.

Assessment methods

Oral examination.

The final mark will range between 18 and 30: the professors will evaluate the ability to translate and analyse a text of ancient Greek literature (30-29 excellent; 28-27 very good; 26-25 good; 24-22 fair; 21-20 more than sufficient; 19-18 sufficient).

It is necessary to contact the relevant University office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en) with ample time in advance: the office will propose some adjustments, which must in any case be submitted 15 days in advance to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of these in relation to the teaching objectives.
