Learning outcomes

At the end of the workshop, the student: - knows how to apply what was covered in the integrated course within a simulated learning environment; - knows how to reflect critically in a group on the proposed topics.

Course contents

Workshop 'Understanding and Managing Conflicts in the Multicultural School'

The workshop focuses on understanding conflicts that can occur in multicultural school contexts. Some conflicts experienced by the participants at school will be analysed using Margarit Cohen Emerique's intercultural approach, which involves: decentralisation of the teacher, discovery of the cultural frame of reference and negotiation.

The texts indicated are used as a reference for the exercises by reading a few pages.

Teaching methods

Cooperative games, exercises, case analyses, group work.

Assessment methods

Students will be required to produce a concluding report.

Attendance at the workshop is compulsory and entitles the student to 1 credit in addition to the 8 credits of tuition, for a total of 9 credits.

The evaluation of the workshop is carried out according to the following criteria

-1 (insufficient): poor participation, lack of commitment and collaboration with peers;

0 (good): active participation, involvement in the exercises and individual writing of a short final paper on the topics of the workshop, to be handed in to the presenter at the end of the workshop.

+1 (very good) active participation, involvement in the exercises and individual writing of a final short essay on the workshop topics, to be handed in to the presenter at the end of the workshop. The topic of the paper must be agreed with the workshop leader and will be presented and discussed during the examination.
