Course contents
Gender differences in an intersectional perspective
The purpose of the workshop is to reflect on genders in an intersectional perspective, to reveal that deep-rooted sexism that still permeates the common Italian language. A language that clearly reveals the mechanisms of (male) 'power' and is expressed through the (incorrect and sexist) use of improper words.
The workshop will focus on:
1) the main theoretical approaches about gender differences and sex roles;
2) the gender in the Italian mass-media world;
3) the gender violence in the complex society.
The workshop is designed to get students acquainted with changes that have characterized the Italian context over the last century, as well as to develop critical skills in analyzing how we do and "undoing gender" in everyday life.
