Learning outcomes

At the end of the seminar students: - have deepened the knowledge of relevant aspects of cinema, television and multimedia production studies; - autonomously apply innovative methodologies of analysis to audiovisual and media products.

Course contents

This seminar introduces to the study of Roberto Rossellini's work, analyzed from a cultural, historical and aesthetic perspective. In particular, the knowledge of some films of which there are different versions will be explored, reconstructing their genesis and reception in various geographical, political and social contexts.

Readings/Bibliography

The reading of the following books is mandatory. Other texts will be mentioned during the workshop and will be uploaded on the platform of support to teaching (Virtuale).

-Elena Dagrada, Le varianti trasparenti. I film con Ingrid Bergman di Roberto Rossellini, Milano, LED, seconda edizione 2008.

Teaching methods

Lectures, with projections and analysis of significant film extracts and scenes. Lectures will be held in person, unless otherwise required due to sanitary measures.

Assessment methods

To pass the class, students must attend at least 80% of the lessons. Furthermore, the writing of a short essay (approximately 5 pages) on one of the seminar topics is required.

Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities. It is necessary to contact the relevant University office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en) with ample time in advance: the office will propose some adjustments, which must in any case be submitted 15 days in advance to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of these in relation to the teaching objectives.
