Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the student: has an overview of the musical testimonies of the Middle Ages and the European Renaissance investigated in the context of the birth and development of musical writing as well as the evolution of genres and compositional forms; knows the functions and morphology of medieval and Renaissance music analyzed and critically deepened through texts and documents illustrating their cultural environment, conventions, social and political use.
