Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student: - understand the fundamental structure of the Internet as a packet-switched network and the main services offered by the World Wide Web, such as e-mail, instant messaging, remote connections, the evolution of social network services ("Web 2.0"), the process to identify and select information available on the Web. The student, furthermore: as able to use spreadsheets (operations, functions, graphs), and to manage database (construction of tables, reports, forms, and queries).

Course contents

The lab explores methods and tools for media education in childcare services through Digital Storytelling. Digital tools for storytelling (e.g. stop motion, storytelling apps, e-books) will be analyzed and tested, focusing in particular on image and audiovisual languages. We will reflect on how these tools can be applied in the educational practice, both with children and families.

Texts and materials will be provided by the teacher during the lab.

Teaching methods

The format of the laboratory will be interactive and workshop-based. Individual and small group activities will be promoted.

In consideration of the type of activity and the teaching methods adopted, the attendance of this training activity requires the prior participation of all students in the training modules 1 and 2 on safety in the study places, in e-learning mode.



Assessment methods

At the end of the lab, students will be invited to present a Digital Storytelling project for childcare services.

Please note that each 3 CFU laboratory includes 24 hours of lectures (8 hours per CFU) and 51 hours of individual study (each CFU is 25 hours in total). Therefore, it will not be enough to attend the laboratory to obtain the evaluation, it will instead be necessary to do all the required exercises.

The evaluation will be expressed as eligibility. To obtain eligibility, the student must attend the lessons by actively participating in the activities proposed in the presence; deliver all the planned exercises respecting the deadlines.

Teaching tools

Lessons usually take place in the computer lab with a PC workstation per student, video projector, interactive whiteboard and also with the use of personal devices.
