Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student:
- knows the main thematic and procedural junctions related to a modern educational culture of the body and movement (Embodied theory and Education to corporeality);
- knows the main aspects of the psycho-motor and cognitive development of the child;
- will be able to recognize that the body can be an indicator of discomfort observable in childhood behavior;
- will be able to apply the principles of non-verbal communication to the dynamics of listening and participation in the educational situation of teaching and learning;
- will be able to compare and choose between productive and reproductive teaching styles, referring to situated psycho-motor experiences and expressive-emotional experiences;
- knows how to organize and coordinate their motor skills within coordinative, rhythmic and expressive parameters;
- knows how to react creatively to musical, sound and visual stimuli, knowing how to diversify the proposals also in terms of design;
- knows how to verify and evaluate the activities carried out, in a formative and summative sense, in relation to the objectives to be achieved and the evolution of each child.
Course contents
THE SENSORY-MOTOR SYSTEM. Sensation, perception and feedback - from motor skills to motor competencies. Psychomotor development in the developmental age. Ontogeny of skills from basic motor and postural patterns. Cognitive development starting from sensory-motor intelligence. Affective development (egocentrism and sociocentrism).
BODY AND CORPOREALITY. Phenomenology and corporeity. Pedagogy of corporeity. Didactics and corporeality Time and space of the body. The teaching "body".
MOTOR SKILLS. from motor patterns to skills. Learning skills. Feedback and motor learning (self-awareness education). Contexts and application strategies for the development of skills.
DIDACTICS AND METHODOLOGY, THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE. The educational situation in the teaching-learning context. The educational relationship and educational communication. Teaching styles. The Didactic Setting. The contents of physical education. Organization of the physical education lesson. Individualization and personalization of content. Programming and design. Formative evaluation: educational approach to evaluation.
PLAY AS AN EDUCATIONAL FRAMEWORK. Theories compared. Play as an educational medium. The transversality of the game. Play and cognition. From sensory-motor play to sport.
EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIES Outdoor Education. Outdoor adventure and outdoor learning. Technology and outdoor activities. Outdoor activities and needs in developmental age. Outdoor activities and education on environmental sustainability.

Teaching methods
- Interactive lecture.
- Cooperative learning through group work and intergroup work (optional with the addition of a score to the final grade of the written test)
Presentation and discussion on the results of cooperative activities
Assessment methods
Written Test.
The written test is based on closed-ended questions and open questions on the program carried out, with reference to the materials adopted (foundamental books and teacher's notes).
The score of the written test is added to the score of the laboratory (for all the students) and the score of the group work (only for students who have taken part in cooperative learning)

Laboratory activity (8 hours).
