Learning outcomes

Recognize the morphologic and molecular features of bone and joint diseases, and correlate them with their clinical presentation.

Course contents

Surgical pathology and histopathology of the following diseases:

Rheumathoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis.

Benign and malignant tumors of the bone and cartilage.

Soft tissue sarcomas.

Teaching methods

Class presentations.

Attendance to learning activities is mandatory; the minimum attendance requirement to be admitted to the final exam is 60% of lessons.

Assessment methods

With effect from the current Academic Year the final exam of the pathology module of the integrated course will be a written test in presence to verify the achievement of objectives (critical thinking, knowledge of topics of pathology) within the integrated course.

The test for the pathology module is based on 31 questions regarding the topics covered in the course. Therefore, the attendance to the classes is highly recommended.

The grade corresponds to number of exact answers. At least 18 correct answers are required to pass the test.

The grades of the pathology module will be valid for two exam sessions.

Final Grades:

The grade of the pathology module will be combined with the grades of the other modules of the integrated course to obtain the final grade. To pass the exam, students will need to reach at least the pass-mark (18/30) in all modules of the I.C. The student will be able to accept or decline the final grades.
