Academic Year 2024/2025

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Industrial Design (cod. 8182)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student is able to interpret contemporary visual communication phenomena and techniques, through the use of basic methodological tools. He also has the knowledge of the basic elements of typographic composition, in relation to: geometry as a language; the visual field; sign systems; the design of two-dimensional artifacts. Furthermore, the student has the knowledge relating to the fundamental elements of color theory, the choice of typographic characters, the graphic layout and finally the skills to transfer what has been learned into a communicative artefact.

Course contents

The intent is to put students in a position to develop and put into practice reasoned ideas in a shared way with others through a path that goes from theoretical formulation to technical implementation with the most appropriate tools.

Teaching methods

The theoretical and practical aspects will be addressed through lectures and supported by the assignment of exercises, to be carried out both in the laboratory with the help of the teacher and individually.
Collective revision activities of the works will then help in strengthening the knowledge learned.

Assessment methods

During the course, various exercises and micro-exercises will be carried out in order to monitor the students' work and the implementation of the topics covered. These, together with the assignment of a larger project, will define the individual evaluation.

Teaching tools

Students will be provided with lecture slides and handouts as supplementary materials.
