Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student knows the basics of medical emergencies, particularly related to the provision of first aid.

Course contents


Lesson 1:

 
• General principles of first aid: team dynamics, communication, systematic approach and basics for practical BLS


• Chest pain: differential diagnosis, clinical approach, hints of therapy.

Lesson 2:

 
• Seizures: etiopathogenesis, classification, differential diagnosis, first approach


• Diabetes complications: management of hypoglycemia

Lesson 3:

 
• Cerebral stroke: early recognition, management of first aid and hints of therapy

EKG: basic principles, main rhythms (SR, AF, flutter)

Lesson 4:

 
• Septic shock: evaluation approach, diagnosis and hints of therapy.

Delirium: onset, clinical presentation and differential diagnosis
