Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will dispose of an average communicative competence, both oral and written, in order to satisfy her/his basic needs in everyday life, in different social and professional domains. Her/his competence should approximately reach B1/B2 levels of the Common European Framework.
Course contents
VERB:
Participle. Forms of participles and their use.
Formation of active participles in the present and past tenses.
Formation of passive participles in the present and past tenses.
Short and long forms of passive participles.
Verbal adverbs. Use of imperfective and perfective verbal adverbs. Replacement of verbal adverb constructions with subordinate clause of time, cause, condition and concession.
Transitive and intransitive verbs. Meanings.
Passive constructions. Formation of passive forms from imperfective and perfective berbs in the present, past and future tenses.
Conditional forms.
SYNTAX:
Simple sentences.
Personal and impersonal sentences.
Compound sentences (simultaneous actions, consecutive, juxtaposition, adversative and concessive actions).
Noun and objective clauses.
Complex sentences with attributive clauses.
Complex sentences with clauses of time.
Complex sentences with clauses of condition (real and unreal condition).
Complex sentences with clauses of cause or effect.
Complex sentences with a clause of purpose.
Complex sentences with concessive clauses.
Direct and indirect speech.
Replacement of simple sentences with subordinate clauses.

Teaching methods
The course is articulated in 30 hours, in which the linguistic competences and theoretical knowledge about syntaxis are mainly developed, and in many hours of laboratory activities, that privilege the communicative competences and practical language skills.
The tutorial lessons are part of the course and will be part of the exam program.
Assessment methods
The students are asked to do a written examination and an oral test. The positive result of the written examination is valid for 4 terms and it is necessary to take the oral exam.
In class: the written test is to verify the linguistic competences, in particular elements of morphology, grammar and syntax, including the ability of written comprehension.
The oral test is focused on the communicative competences, on the ability of oral expression. The first part of the oral test is in Russian and is dedicated to the skill of speaking (level B1/B2). The second part of the oral exam is focused on the linguistics theoretical contents of the course program.
The final grade is the result of the average between the written exam and the oral examinations.
To take the exam of Russian language 3, students are required to take Russian language 2 and Russian Literature 2 first.
