Learning outcomes

In the field of second language acquisition research, pragmatics holds a prominent place alongside other traditionally studied aspects of the language, such as morphosyntax and vocabulary. The aim of this module is to explore some theoretical issues concerning teaching and learning aspects related to pragmatics so as to consider teaching methods and materials focused on learning (and assessment of) pragmatic competence.

Course contents

Perspectives in pragmatics: speech acts and conversational sequences

Teaching models and types of activities aimed at

· developing sociopragmatic and pragmalinguistic awareness;

· providing opportunities for communicative practice.
