Teaching methods
The course requires mandatory attendance of at least 70% of the classes.
The lectures will encourage student participation in the analysis and translation of the texts covered. Each week the teacher will provide a text that will be analyzed in class in order to identify its salient features. Afterwards, the students will translate in groups the first part of the text, which will then be discussed in class. The translation of the remaining part should be completed individually, accompanied by a commentary on the translation. Some of these translations will be corrected in class.
Assessment methods
The students will be asked to translate a text of approximately 250 words, similar to those covered in the course, and provide a brief commentary to illustrate the main translation strategies to which they will be given a score from 0 to 5/30. Students will only be allowed to use paper dictionaries during the exam. The use of electronic devices will not be allowed.
The final grade for the integrated course of Translation between Italian and Chinese II is defined on the average of the marks given in the 2 component tests of the exam itself (one written test for Translation from Chinese into Italian II and one written test for Translation from Italian into Chinese II).
