Course contents
The visual analysis lab focuses on the cultural meaning and social function of images and the visual more broadly in the contemporary age, while also offering practical instruments for the development of original case studies.
The lab will be centred on the acquisition of methodological instruments for textual, digital, archival, and field-based visual communication research. The lab will also introduce students to up-to-date readings and examples, presentations by experts, and hands-on research assignments.
Through this class students will gain the ability to apply theoretical concepts and methodological skills to the development of three small-scale visual analysis projects focusing on the media, the internet, and the city, respectively.
