Learning outcomes

- Student can understand the main points of Slovak Language and culture -he/she is able to understand and create simple written texts and oral discourses.

- Party, hobby free Time Activities

- University, school system in Slovakia

- Travelling – railway station, airport

- At the doctor´s, in pharmacy, health and illnesses

- The Human body, describing a person

- Telephoning, e-mail, correspondence, writing personal letters, postcards

- At the post office, at the bank

- Town, asking for directions

 

Grammar:

Accusative singular and plural of nouns, adjectives, demonstrative and possessive pronouns, and numerals

Accusative prepositions

Modal verbs in present

Instrumental case singular and plural of nouns, adjectives, demonstrative and possessive pronouns

Teaching methods

The class combines didactic methods and uses different learning activities, in order to provide students with the communicative grammar of Slovak language and train all basic skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking). Activities include revision and practice of grammar, reading and listening comprehension, oral and written summaries of texts, translations, syntactic and stylistic analysis of the texts etc.

Assessment methods

Students are required to:

- Attend the classes and prepare regularly for the lessons,

- Pass a final exam (written test and an oral exam*)

* Topics for oral exam will be announced in advance.

Any change of the requirements or evaluation procedures will be announced at the beginning of the semester.
