Learning outcomes
The United Nations has decided to promote the new Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 at the conclusion of the cycle on the Millennium Development Goals (2000-2015), The seminar aims to analyze the content of these new objectives, comparing them with the previous ones, and proposing a critical approach to the criteria that have been proposed for their definition, measurement and implementation.
Course contents
The seminar aims to provide to the students the theoretical tools to understand and critically analyze the Sustainable Development objectives identified by the UN for 2030 and how to pursue them. The sustainable development approach will be used, both to analyze some points related to growth (focusing in particular on the interactions between economic, social and environmental issues); both as a regulatory ethical framework to describe the aspiration to a dignified life in which is it possible to combine: personal skills, economic development, social inclusion and environmental sustainability.
During the workshop the following topics will be addressed:
- the ways of sustainable development;
- inequalities;
- economic development;
- social inclusion;
- the principles of good governance
- development goals (It will be possible to go in depth with the goals that meet students’interests.

The reference chapters for all students are:
1; 2; 3; 4; 7; 14.
The remaining chapters, which refer to specific development objectives, will be chosen by students according to their study and research interests and will be the subject for an in-depth study which will be presented at the class and will be the starting point for the oral exam.

Lectures, seminars, class presentations.
all the lessons will be provided on line trough MS TEAMS.
Assessment methods
The final exam is an oral exam that includes the presentation of the student's paper regarding the in depth analysis of a specific SDG.
Teaching tools
During the course, students will be provided with supplementary teaching materials (texts, working papers, research reports), analysis and research tools aimed at analyzing in depth specific aspects of the program.
