Learning outcomes

The student is introduced to knowledge and methodologies of contemporary interior design through a project approach that allows the student to measure himself with the representative-compositional and creative features of interior design in relation to the space and its flexibility of use.

Course contents

The Interior Architecture Laboratory focuses on the architectural project that explores the interior space in its definition of physical and mental interieur in relation to its users and its increasingly flexible applications.

The multiformity of meanings of the contemporary interior is declined by highlighting the themes of living in all its implications. The analysis of the interior design is conducted paying particular attention to structures, typologies, distribution, as well as style and creativity.

The Interior Architecture laboratory in particular allows the comparison of a project for a living space with light, fixed and mobile furnishings, materials, decorative elements in defining a specific identity of a place in the dialogue between interior and exterior, as well as in the dialectic between sizing, architectural constraints, environmental control and energy sustainability in the perspective of the efficiency of the architectural building.

Assessment methods

The Laboratory of Architectural Design II (C.I. 12 CFU) is composed, in addition to the characterizing course of Architecture and Architectural Design II (8 CFU), with a course of Distributive Features of Buildings II (2 CFU) and a course of Interior Design (2 CFU).

The examination of the Architectural Design Laboratory II, includes the verification of the learning of the contents of all the courses that compose the integrated laboratory. The examination takes place in a single exam.

The final grade assigned to the student will therefore be determined by the sum of the evaluetions assigned for each course.

For the Interior Architecture module, knowledge of the disciplinary aspects addressed will be verified through a deepening graphic table dedicated to the study of the interiors and the discussion of the project documents during the exam. The evaluation of the graphic table dedicated to the study of the interiors will contribute to the final grade of the laboratory up to a maximum of 3 points, the evaluation of the discussion during the examination will contribute to the final grade of the laboratory up to a maximum of 2 points.
