Learning outcomes
The student will have specific knowledge of the rules, which, according to international, EU and national law, identify the criteria under which a company is allowed to carry a transport service. The student will analyze the different ways of transferring passengers and goods (transport services by air, sea and road). The student knows the national and international law on the shipping companies and the transport contracts. The student knows the national, european and international legislation, intended to regulate the activities of companies operating in the field, knowing apply to specific cases the reference rules. The student knows the most topical aspects on the safety and security of the transportation, the prevention of the marine environment and the liability about the pollution of the marine environment.
Course contents
Ports and port services. Airports and airport services. Maritime, air and road services. Shipowner and shipping company. Contracts: bare boat charter, time charter and voyage charter. Transport by road, by sea and by air. Safety and security in the transportation. Delimitation of the marine spaces. United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea and the protection of the marine environment. Regime of the liability of the marine pollution. Marine protected areas.
Teaching module (30 hours) entrusted to Prof. Alessandra Romagnoli, which will be held in the first semester, dealing with the subject matter of the ports and port services, of the airports and airport services, of maritime, air and road services.

Teaching methods
Classes are held in the 2nd semester. The students, who will have acquired the frequency in the academic year, will take the exam starting in June. The teacher reserves the right to grant to students, who are assiduously attended the lectures, a differentiated examination program. This programme will be communicated by the teacher at the beginning of classes. The frequency to the course, in the case, will be verified through periodic collections of signatures.
Assessment methods
Verification of learning takes place through the only final exam, which ensures the acquisition of knowledge through an oral examination. The oral examination wants to assess critical and methodological skills acquired by the student: abilities to steer within normative sources, a complete vision of issues covered in the lesson, an adequate expressive ability and a proper legal and technical language will be particularly assessed.
Degree Thesis
There are no specific requirements for applying for the degree thesis, which can be addressed to the teacher after appointment.
