Learning outcomes
Students must attend some seminars chosen from a list of seminars and workshops organized by the School of Economics and by TEaM. Seminars account for 3 ECTS, provided that the student attends AT LEAST 16 hours and writes a short report on the content of the attended seminars, to be evaluated by the Seminar coordinator.
At the end of the seminars the student is able to identify and evaluate the main topics of current research in the tourism field, and to deepen the analysis through brief essays.
Course contents
In the Academic Year 2016-17, seminars are organized in the first semester.
The seminar series, entitled "Topics and methods in contemporary tourism", is organized around three themes.
The first theme is "Sustainability, environment and culture for tourism". Four speakers will discuss this theme from different perspectives (Joanna Poczta, University School of Physical Education in Poznan; Simone Riccardi, Ecobnb.com; Stefano Parmeggiani, consultant and popularizer; Enrico Bertacchini, Univesity of Turin).
The second theme is "Innovation in tourism, from technology and beyond", and we will be discussed by three speakers: Giacomo Del Chiappa, University of Sassari; Nicoletta Corrocher, Bocconi University; Massimiliano Nuccio, University of Turin).
The third theme is "Methods for tourism research: behavioral economics and field experiments for tourism". This theme will be discussed by Simona Cicognani (University of Verona) and Giampaolo Viglia (Bournemouth University).

Teaching methods
Seminars and activity in the laboratory
Assessment methods
Students should attend AT LEAST 16 hours out of the list of seminars offered in 2016-17. Attendance will be checked through identification and signature. To attain the 3 ECTS students should write a short essay, i.e. 4-5 pages) on one (or more) of the topics covered in the seminars. Evaluation, performed by the seminar coordinator will be on a pass/fail basis.
