Learning outcomes
The course aims to examine various issues in relation to the sociological theory and the applicability of knowledge. The course focuses on: communication theory, socialization processes, role of the subject, cultural and social relationships, correlational model. Particular attention is given to the applicability of sociology, in particolar the course will focus on some applications of sociology in health. After completing this course, students should acquired the methodological skills to analyze an empirical situation in sociological terms, with particular reference to welfare and lifestyles.
Course contents
The first part of the course will address the main theoretical paradigms that characterize sociology, with the particular focus on correlational and sociological knowledge.
The second part of the course will address issues and practical application of the sociology. Mainly, the course will focus on the web-society and, in such a context, to the eclectic nature of the social knowledge.
The third part will try to open a new theoretical pattern, oriented towards the future, and consequently trying to anticipated it, in order to understand our current web society. The part will draw upon the classic afferent to several branches of scientific knowledge, or to part of their thought. Sociological theorize means apply eclecticly to the current context those classic categories which, even though explicitated for different aims, show to be able to clarify even conflicting aspects and mutated context. Is sociology dramaticaly lagging behind in such matters?
