Course contents
The Archetype of the Journey and the Imagery of Italy in D.H.Lawrence's Works.
In a survey of the Literary context at the turn of Nineteenth Century and the Twentieth Century, the course aims to deal with D.H.Lawrence's Narrative and Poetry, paying attention both to the themes and motifs and to the stylistic as well as to the various strategies of writing in English connected to other writers such as: Conrad, Stevenson and Greene. The students have to know the History of the English Literature of the end on the Nineteenth Century and the Twentieth Century and to read three novels, two travel books, one novella, and a selection of four poems from Birds Beasts and Flowers, plus three essays among those listed in b) and one of methodology listed in c).
