Course contents

The historiography of the age of decadence and its relationship with the historiography of the classical age.

During the lessons , there will be specials lectures about San Gerolamo, Orosio, Nicomaco Flaviano senior et alii.

Teaching methods

Comparison with the ancient sources in translation.
Bibliography depth will be provided during class.

Assessment methods

Oral exam. Students NOT attending are asked to contact the teacher.

Teaching tools

Lectures. Detailed analysis of the sources (mostly Latin ) and especially from the third century AD up to about 550 A.D. will be distributed photocopies of literary and epigraphic sources and will be screened power point . The slides will be made available on-line .
