Learning outcomes

Students will have in-depth knowledge on the environmental problems and on the related policies as well, and knowledge on the main methodologies able to detected communication, participation and information tools and channels.

Course contents

1. ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS:

1.a principles of microeconomics: market, demand and supply theories;

1.b welfare economics: efficiency and equity, market failures and the commons;

2. ENVIRONMENTAL POLITICS:

2.a environmental policies principles, criteria and aims;

2.b analysis of the environmental policies: administrative, economic and voluntary;

2.c concepts of sustainable development, and perspectives.

3. ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATION:

3.a ethics of responsibility, information and participation;

3.b principles of environmental communication;

3.c environmental communication in the public Organizations;

3.d environmental communication in the private Organizations

Assessment methods

Achieved knowledge and skills are evaluated through a final exam on the basis of the following modalities: 

a. regular class attendance: written exam (5 arguments, one hour) or - free choice - oral exam (about one hour) on the course study programme;

b. not regular class attendance: oral exam (about one hour) on the course study programme (didactic material available on the University web site; selected literature: see "recommended reading").
