Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students should be able to recognize refractive errors and to correctly use the objective techniques for diagnosing ametropies.

Course contents

Refractive errors: hypermetropia, myopia and astigmatism.

Subjective and objective evaluation of refraction. Principles of cycloplegic refraction: retinoscopy.

Glasses and contact lenses. Effects of refractive errors and glasses on the angle of strabismus.

Measurement of visual acuity in preschool-age children, schoolchildren and adults.
