Learning outcomes
Knowledge of basic concepts and ability to use basic tools of Linear Algebra and Analytic Geometry.
Course contents
Preliminaries: Operations with sets. Functions. Algebraic
structures.
Analytic Geometry: Cartesian coordinates on the line,
the plane and 3-space. Geometric loci in the plane, lines, conics.
Vectors. Planes and lines in 3-space, equations (cartesian or
parametric), parallelism, orthogonality.
Linear Algebra: Vector spaces. Linear dependence,
generators and bases; dimension. Subspaces. Linear systems .
Matrices. Row reduction. Rank of a matrix. Theorem of
Rouché-Capelli. Determinant. Linear transformations. Base change.
Eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Diagonalizable matrices. Metric
spaces. Scalar product; Euclidean spaces; norm. Orthonormal Bases.
