Learning outcomes

Comprehension of the main questions of aesthetic debate.

Course contents

Title of the course: Philosophy of Tragedy and aesthetic Theory
n.b.: This part of the course counts as module of the general course in Estetica filosofica.
Module contents: The idea of the "tragic": from representation to conceptualization

The course will explore the development of the concept of the "tragic" in modern philosophy, also focusing on the reflection on the model of attic tragedy.

Students of Scienze filosofiche are expected to complete this module with the course of Estetica contemporanea (6 cfu).


Beginning of lessons: monday 1st October 2012.
Timetable: monday, tuesday, wednesday 9-11.
Classroom: C, via Zamboni 34 (Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia).

The course consists of 30 hours of lesson.

Assessment methods

Oral examination. It's possible to produce and discuss short papers.

A seminar will be dedicated to Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit.
