Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to provide the theorical tools useful to think, prepare and manage criminological projects.
Course contents
The drug addiction problems of young people will be treated starting from the consideration of the possible intervention strategies. It is extremely important to analyse again the "care" techniques and the theoretic strategies which help think on the validity of the relevant interventions.
Criminology and Victimology are scientific disciplines which have the aim to study the human being in conflict with society. Briefly, their aim is both to analyze, predict and contrast the criminal activities, and to study how to treat the crime victims. Universities, Police Academies, and victim support centers all over the world teach these disciplines in order to prepare strategies in the fields of law enforcement, crime prevention, criminal justice administration, crime victim services, and security management.
The next part of the course focuses on globalization as it relates to transnational crime. It attempts to show how the very patterns and dynamics that make globalization possible and effective as a positive force in the world also give rise to “collateral” negative, that is criminal, consequences and facilitate the spawning and rapid growth of transnational crimes.
Finally, in order to study the cruel deeds of a woman serial killer, the course will focus on the case of Leonarda Cianciulli.
