Course contents
Multimedia translation module (lecturer Raffaella
Romagnoli)
Students will develop the ability in subtitling, facing new
genres of discourse. The course will focus on films and in
particular on the soviet and post-soviet commedy.
The approach will take into consideration both linguistic and cultural features of the texts. This will deepen students' abilities in multimedia translation into Italian.
The oral texts will be transcripted, then analyzed from different points of view. The students will propose their subtitled versions, which will be discussed in group.
Technical/scientific translation module (lecturer Marina Gasanova)
Course is directed towards the acquisition of active translation strategies and techniques, the ability of collecting documentation on given subjects, the memorization of specific language terms and the development of skills concerning stylistic choices and text editing in Russian. Special attention will be paid to translation methods and internet searching skills, in order to optimize the translation process.
Translation for publishing module (lecturer Prof. Marica
Fasolini)
The course will focus on the translation of non-fiction texts on different topics. ranging from fine arts to history.with particular attention to cultural-bound aspects of the text.

Teaching methods
The course includes several exercises aiming at the development of: interpretation and semantic analysis skills (source text paraphrasing), the ability of using Russian language tools and carrying out revision and correction of the target text

Transcription and subtitling at home of a documentary film
Technical/scientific translation module
There will be a written test at the end of the course.
Translation for publishing module:
Translation at home of a text of similar typology to the ones examined.
Teaching tools
The software "Subtitle workshop" will be used during the
lessons.
During the course research tools usually used for the translation
process will be practiced, such as bilingual and monolingual
dictionaries , including specialized ones , encyclopedias on-line
and the Internet
