Learning outcomes

To learn the basic mechanisms underlying the symptoms and signs of dysfunction of the motor, coordination and sensory systems.

Course contents

Basic alterations of the nervous fibre: neuroapraxia, axonotmesis, neurotmesis, axonocachexia. Nervous regeneration and reinnervation. The reflex arc. Nervous reflexes, mono and polysynaptic. Segmental organization of motricity and sensibility. Motor and sensory pathways. Cranial nerves. Diseases of the cranial nerves. Peripheral neuropathies, axonal and demyelinating. Multineuropathies and focal neuropathies. Neuromuscular synapse and diseases of the neuromuscular transmission: myasthenia and myasthenic syndromes. Muscle diseases, inflammatory and degenerative. Myositis. Dystrophic, metabolic and congenital myopathies.
