Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student knows: - the importance of track and field as propaedeutic in developing the skills of running, jumping and throwing, basic learning in motor development and sports; - the rules, equipment, technical and tactical aspects for beginners about track and fields events and teaching principles, as well as providing methods of basic training.
Course contents
Theory
- Definitions, classifications and performance models of Track and Field events.
- Muscle power and sprinting, jumping, throwing.
- Running technique.
- Sprint runs (starting blocks and sprinter technique, rules and procedures etc.) and event phases. Relationships between step rate and length.
- Sprint hurdles: rules, run technique and hurdles clearance from te start phase to the sprint finish.
- Jumping and throwing events: rules, phases, techniques and common biomechanical aspects.
- Endurance events: runs, hurdle runs, race walk.
- Didactics in throwing, jumping and running;
- Decathlon and Eptathlon: rules and technical issues associated with the organization and management of training and competition.
- Health-related recreational athletics.
Laboratory exercises.

In order to prepare the examination is essential to participate to the lessons, and the study of the related notes.
Teaching methods
To achieve the declared aim the course
is divided into a theoretical (8 hours) and a practice part (32
hours).
Assessment methods
Oral examination to assess the learning of the various aspects of the subject and evaluate the critical capacity of students.
Teaching tools
Theory: video projector, pc, internet Video.
Laboratories: facilities for the practice of the selected
sports.
