Learning outcomes

A good knowledge of latin is needed. Classes will concern the main periods in the evolution of latin, and its relations with the other languages spoken in ancient Italy (greek, etruscan, umbrian). Students will learn to translate epigraphic texts of ancient period, and to analyse morphology and language of classical latin.

Course contents

The language of Roman res publica.
Beginning 28th september 2010. Time table tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday 10-12.
60 hours for 12 CFU; for 6 CFU, the first 30 hours.

Teaching methods

60 hours of classes for 12 CFU; 30 hours (from september) for 6 CFU.

Assessment methods

Oral examination dealing with texts commented in the classes; a general knowledge of the handbook is requested, as well as the reading af an essay at one's choice  in the bibliography.

Teaching tools

Students will find on line -download materiale didattico- latin texts excepted Res Gestae, Propertius,Vergil and the texts included in Stolz-Debrunner.
