27816 - Chemistry of Dyes (2nd cycle)

Academic Year 2009/2010

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Industrial Chemistry (cod. 0884)

Learning outcomes

The course ‘Chemistry of Colorants" relatively furnishes education and formation to the history of the dyes, to the theory of the color, to the synthesis and the application of the synthetic and natural coloring substances. The course introduces  new applied searches and new advances in this field, as for instance those of the Dyes and Pigments for High Performance and those for special use in Functional High Technology. At the end of the course the student will be able to understand why an organic compound can give color and what are the peculiar characteristics of the principal classes of Dyes and Pigments for industrial use. The student will be besides able to individualize the new frontiers of the chemistry of the dyes toward modern applications and in application fields to very high  added value.
