The knowledge and ability to put into practice advanced support algorithms in cardiac arrest situations.

Course contents

-                   BLS Revision

 

-                   Cardiac monitoring, rhythms of arrest and peripheral arrest.

 

-                   Defibrillation

 

-                   Emergency pharmaceutical drugs

 

-                   Management of the air tract

 

-                   Cardiac arrest algorithms (with or without defibrillation).

 

-                   Particular circumstances (shock, serious asthma attacks, hypothermia, hyper-perfusion)

Teaching methods

A manual will be supplied which should be studied prior to the course. 6 hours of experience in plenary sessions will cover the more critical topics. After this the students will be divided into groups of 5 for practical experience on the mannequin.

Assessment methods

Written test about guideline knowledge.

Practical test on the mannequin.

Teaching tools

Video projector, PC, mannequin, resuscitation instruments (artificial respiration balloon, facial mask, laryngoscope, tracheal tubing, Guedel's cannulae).
