Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the students will understand the concept of information and will know the methods of digital representation and of elaboration systems of data in the field of humanities computer science.

2. The network and the multimedia information
3. Information systems and database
4. The digital textuality: markup languages
5. Hypertext and hypermedia: planning and development
6.  Principles of images digitization
7.  Testual analysis and comptational linguistic
8. Semantic Web: model, architecture and languages
9. The digital library

Teaching methods

Lessons will have a theoretical and a pratical part. The laboratory activity will offer the competences necessaries to create and manage digital resources for the humanities.

The exam include a theoretical and a practical part, that will be discussed during the oral test. The first will regard the content handled during the course. The second regards two different activities:

- write an elaboration on one of the argument discussed during the course and put it on the course Wiki (http://linclass.classics.unibo.it/iu2008)
- create a digital resource (to be concorded with the teacher).

Teaching tools

The lessons will be holden in a computer room with PC in Internet network. The theoretical lessons will be accompanied to a practical part: use and critical analysis of tools, languages, Web sistes.
The course will offer also thematic seminars and a practical laboratory (date to be defined).
