The Campus ICT Labs are reserved for students of Forlì Campus. During opening hours there is always a member of the technical staff on duty to answer students’ or teachers’ queries, make sure the equipment is used properly and sort out technical problems.
The laboratories contain 170 personal computers from which to access the Internet. All the computers use Windows operating system, and have word-processing software installed and worksheets and databases (the Office packet), as well as Internet Explorer for browsing the net and certain specific programmes required by teachers for teaching purposes. There is a workstation for blind users and those with eyesight problems.
There is software protection and monitoring against viruses or accidental damage to the system. Once connected to the local network, all workstations can use the shared resources, notably 2 high-definition laser printers set to print on front and back. Five rooms are appointed with hardware and software, two of them entirely reserved for students printing documents and compiling dissertations, consulting the Internet and using the applications relating to the various learning programmes; the other three are exclusively for teaching activities.
Access to the facility is by the C.I.P. system, so one needs one’s university badge at all times. Access to the facility presupposes awareness and acceptance of the facility rules.
Room access is regulated by a security system linked to the University Directory Service (DSA) which manages all university users. This grants access to workstations, so that the user is identified. One hence needs one’s ‘credentials’ as issued by StudentiOnline at the moment of registration in the system.
Inside rooms on the premises it is forbidden to: bring food and drinks, keep mobile phone sound alarms switched on, keep bags or rucksacks (these must be deposited in corridor lockers).
Printing Service There are two black-and-white laser printers for Labic users. The first time one uses the lab, one is allotted a starting credit of 150 (printed sides); when this is finished, users may recharge their accounts to 750 upon producing a ream of photocopy paper, 80 grams/m3 non-recycled. 120 calendar days must elapse between one recharge and the next.
Each printing operation from a workstation is identified and separated by a sheet bearing the user’s data: name, surname, name of document, date and time of printing.
